Live Launch of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox 5th Edition

30 day whole body detox Last night was the LIVE launch of the 5th edition of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox. It was thrilling to see something I have envisioned for the last 4 years come to life! We’ve done events to launch the program every year, and this one was truly the most amazing – yet!

Our event took place at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, an ideal location overlooking Lake Ontario, and the sun was setting as we started the event – a great atmosphere for a seminar. For those who weren’t able to attend, we had a LIVE stream broadcasting across the globe! A huge thank you to Dieter Staudinger who had the vision to make the live stream happen. This meant that the event was also recorded, so you’ll see some of the videos on our website in the future.

My role was to share the details of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox program, the story behind the program and what’s new and exciting for 2016. The room was filled with many first time guests who had never done the program before, so there was a lot of information to be absorbed! Dr. Erica Mattia did an amazing job of sharing why we choose the USANA product line as our partner for this program and how each of the products is important during the program. Following Erica were our juicing gurus, Dieter & Rebecca, who shared their experience doing a 40 day juice cleanse and 8 reasons why it’s important to adding fresh vegetable juice to your diet and lifestyle. The juice chapter in the Recipe & Guidebook was added thanks to Dieter & Rebecca.

Following a short break, we welcomed our keynote speaker, Dr. Olinca Trejo, Naturopath. Dr. Trejo is the three-time Diamond award winner for the Burlington Post Reader’s Choice as the Best Naturopath in Burlington. Once a year, Dr. Trejo makes the time to speak to our group about the liver, the gut and toxins in our environment. She loves to stay current with all of the new research and so we’re always learning so much! She shared a lot about the connections between gut health and brain health, and how many medical conditions may now stem from what is going on with the bacteria in our gut. It was truly fascinating and a lot of information to take in. Dr. Trejo works with Doctors Naturae in Burlington, 905-336-9721.

The evening ended with an introduction to the coach’s program, followed by many raffle items. Thank you to those who donated items, included a copy of the Made with Love Cookbook by Kelly Childs & Erinn Weatherbie (to be picked up on launch date next week), A gift certificate for Bloom Organic Spa in Oakville, several Sensé skin care product donations from USANA Canada, plus a copy of The Health Home by Dr. Myron Wentz and David Wentz, and a copy of the international bestselling book, Juice Your Way to Health by Dieter Staudinger and Rebecca Reble.

Our group of detoxers starting on April 4th grew as well! Not to worry if that date doesn’t fit your schedule, we have groups starting every week in April and May, so we’ll find a date that works for you. You can order online or simply connect with your USANA distributor and program coach to order.

Julie Boyer, post 30 Day Whole Body Detox

We’ve reached the final day of our 30 Day Whole Body Detox for the group that started on April 7th. It’s hard to believe that 30 days has already gone by. I actually feel like this is my new way of living. I haven’t had a single piece of dark chocolate in 30 days and I’m absolutely okay with it. For me this program is usually about breaking a sugar addiction that I have built up over the winter. What I’ve realized is that the weight loss that goes with the program is actually because I tend to gain weight every single winter. So the scale does actually show that I have lost 7 pounds but those seven pounds were gained during the winter.

I have made it a goal so that next year when I do the 5th edition of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox that I have zero weight to lose and I stay exactly where I am for the entire year. I also want to make a commitment that I will no longer be a slave to sugar. It feels so incredible to be free from the sugar addiction and I feel completely in control of what goes into my mouth. I no longer crave any food after dinner and I don’t wake up feeling hungry. To me this is incredibly powerful.

Julie and family

My family!

As for alcohol, will I be continuing to drink? I believe that I will introduce some alcohol back into my diet but very very slowly because last weekend when I had a small glass of bubbly to celebrate my husband’s new job I didn’t feel very well after drinking only half of it. No matter where you are on your 30 Day Whole Body Detox journey right now I want you to know that I am proud of you. It takes a lot of commitment to do anything for 30 days and I know that sometimes it can be difficult to explain what you’re doing to the people in your life. Hopefully some of those people have given you incredible support. But know that everyone in our 30 Day Whole Body Detox community is here for you.

If you haven’t started yet and you want to start you can join the group that is starting next week on May 11th. If that date doesn’t work for you, that’s okay! We have another group starting on the Tuesday following the long weekend and for many of you that might be the perfect time to start after your first long weekend at the cottage. The 30 Day Whole Body Detox program is a gift. It’s a gift for yourself and it’s a gift for your future self because by taking care of yourself today and being in your best health, you have a much better chance of staying healthier in the future.

Ready to join in? Order now.

In honour of my last day, I am offering a special promotion for those who order between today and tomorrow, Thursday May 7th at 11 pm EST – your choice of a free box of Berry Nutty Bars or a free bag of Fibergy with a purchase of the foundation program. CA Berry Nutty BoxCA Fibergy Plus

30 Day Whole Body Detox 2014 – Day 22 – Sugar, sugar sugar

Turns out I may not be alone in my quest to rid my diet of sugar. We know that sugar is not healthy for us yet why does it continue to show up in so many of our foods today? It’s appalling if you ask me. This is one of the reasons I founded the 30 Day Whole Body Detox, to help people get off the chemicals and back to real food. And yes, I believe there is a need for supplementation to support a whole food diet, which is why there is a list off suggested supplements to support your program in the guidebook. My personal choice of products are from USANA Health Sciences, pharmaceutical grade products that are science-based, not marketing based.

Speaking of marketing, this new documentary, Fed Up, looks like a real eye opener about the dangerous road we have travelled with the addition of sugar in its many forms, to almost every single package and processed food.  Seven years ago, when I started my business with USANA, we were talking about how 1 in 3 North Americans would be diagnosed with diabetes and that this is now the first generation of children who will not outlive their parents. Finally, this is being shared in mainstream media! It is time to take things seriously and get educated on how our food chain must be changed for good.  Please watch the trailer for Fed Up.

Timing is also perfect for the 2014 Food Revolution Summit, starting on April 26th, featuring interviews with Alicia Silverstone, Jane Goodall, Woody Harrelson, Marion Nestle, Vani Hari (Foodbabe.com), Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Dean Ornish and so many more. It’s free to sign up and it looks very interesting and educational. I’ve already signed up, will you?

First week all wrapped up! And I didn’t cheat once. I’m feeling really great. I haven’t felt this good in a really long time. The spring-like weather is helping for sure, but I have a feeling that my sugar habit was getting the better of me and seriously affecting my mood. It’s normal to hibernate during the winter, especially the one that just passed, but the challenge comes when it’s time to change our habits as we move into spring. It’s so easy to simply slide into unhealthy habits when we are stuck inside for months on end. This is one of the reasons I designed the 30 Day Whole Body Detox program to be done in the spring. Letting go of our bad habits and creating amazing habits for the next 6-7 months (until next winter!) is so important. And trust me, many of the habits you create during this program will be made for life.

Today I want to share with you the supplements that I have been taking while I am doing this program. USANA’s nutritional supplements are not designed specifically for detox purposes, but I will do my best to briefly explain why each product I chose makes sense for this month (and many of them, for life). I am going to refer to some of the information shared by Dr. Erica Mattia in her presentation on the products at our live event on March 29th.

The Essentials – the product contains two different bottles, the Multi-Mineral and Mega-Antioxidant. Both are essential, every day, twice a day for life. As Erica puts it, these are supplements, and not meant to replace food. This is why our program is a real food program, supplemented with pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements. Check out this video about the Essentials for more info about why we chose them.

Biomega – We all know the benefits of omega-3 and one of the best sources are from cold-water fish. Usana’s Biomega is double distilled and contains virtually no contaminants. This brand new video was just posted explaining why this product is different.

Vegan? Not to worry, we offer a great blend of omega 3 & 6 in a vegan, organic formula called Optomega.  Optomega offers a diverse combination of the following healthy oils: flax seed, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, and extra-virgin olive oil. This balanced blend of oils is a significant source of essential fatty acids (EFAs), providing an optimal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids (from usana.com).

Hepa Plus (Hepasil DTX in the US) – One of the goals of this program is to reduce your liver loaders, such as caffeine and alcohol, to allow your liver to function optimally. Hepa Plus is designed to support your liver for the long-term and the formula includes milk-thistle extract, green-tea extract, turmeric and alpha-lipoic acid. There are so many benefits to this product, that it’s one of my favorites.

Probiotics – Research is now starting to show a real link between our gut health and brain health. Did you know that there are more bacteria in your gut than cells in your body? It’s pretty amazing what goes on in our gut and Dr. Olinca Trejo, Naturopath, did a great job explaining all of this at our live event. Let’s just say that everyone who was there will be taking probiotics for life. Here’s another great video that explains more about this product.

I’ll cover the food products in another post. I cannot emphasis enough the value of taking these products while you are going through the program. Make sure you order from your program coach and have all of the necessary products on hand when you start your detox journey.
