Looks like a few of us will be starting early this year! Pat Birnie, veteran detoxer started over 2 weeks ago, all on her own. Myself (program founder) and Dr. Erica Mattia, Chiropractor and program designer, are starting tomorrow, on Tuesday March 29th, the same day as the live launch event here in Burlington.  I wasn’t planning on starting so soon but because I had already planned to make several of the recipes this week already, I decided to give it a go! I will have to make another trip to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients to make fresh juice however, as that wasn’t yet on my radar today.

Tonight, I’m printing out some of the bonuses from the program, including the pre and post detox program checklist. Even though I’m the founder, I still do the program as I were a client – and I commit to it to the same degree. This year will be my 5th year completing the program and let me tell you, it gets easier and easier every year! I made a decision to give up alcohol (with the exception of a few special events here and there) in August 2015, so that part of the program won’t be as hard. I do still enjoy REV3 powder in my morning shake, a small dose of caffeine from green tea, white tea and black tea. This product is actually allowed on the program for those who have a serious caffeine addiction but for me, it’s best if I cut it out altogether.

My biggest challenge has always been SUGAR. I have a serious addiction to sugar. It only takes a few bars of chocolate (even the dark chocolate) to send me into a sugar craving frenzy! I shared how badly I was addicted to sugar 2 years ago before I did the detox program that year. It literally saved my life as I was slipping into a depression – and it was due to the sugar addiction. I’m sure that there is a link between those who have been diagnosed at one time or another with depression and sugar addiction, as there is a definite link. Even after having only a little bit of Easter chocolate, I am already feeling it affect my mood and energy – hence my desire to start the detox as soon as possible.

Much like Diet Coke, which I was addicted to for years, I cannot even handle a taste. Sugar is very dangerous for me, and I know that when I choose to eat it (because now I can make the choice), I tend to quickly crave it again. And I use my lifestyle strategies including the 30 Day Whole Body Detox, to quickly break the cycle. Perhaps after this year’s program I’ll be able to resist sugar for even longer. I find that after the program, my sugar cravings are gone and my desire for chocolate is diminished. I am very proud of myself for having resisted eating Eggies this year. These candy coated chocolate eggs have been my nemesis for YEARS. I knew that having just one would set me off. It was VERY hard to resist temptation, but I stayed strong and Easter is over so they will be gone for another 10 months or so, thankfully.

Detox Veteran Shares Her Results for 2015

Cherlynn Moore has been a contributor and participant from the start! She loves the program and also loves sharing it with her clients every year. Here is her story from 2015:

‘My 30th Day has arrived and I’m starting it out right! Gluten free waffles with berries and beet, carrot and apple juice with my supplements! I’m not much for bikini selfies as weight loss is never a goal of mine, but more of a happy result of the detox. The photo on the beach was taken while on vacation in Florida this March/April. Following my trip I began the detox the next day. I was slightly bloated while on vacation and I had some serious skin issues as you can see in the other pictures.

This is my 4th year doing the detox so I wasn’t a stranger to what I was going to feel during the 30 days. I will say that it was much easier after my first week. Week 1 I felt exhausted, cranky, I got headaches and was super hungry. Half way into week two I felt much better and I wasn’t as hungry and able to go places while detoxing rather than hiding in at home afraid my “hang-er” would take over. Mid way through week 3 I got a bad case of a flu bug which kept me from worrying about the hunger issue. But I continued to push on through the detox.

I will say I had a couple of cheat days on weekends as sometimes it was hard to stick 100% with my busy schedule this past month but when I was out for dinners I always asked for the gluten free menu. I even stayed away from the cupcakes at Kelly’s bake shoppe on a trip there with my son! (That was so hard lol). I am a self proclaimed sugar addict and therefore I have made the choice to continue this program into the month of May as best as I possibly can. I will also be honest in saying that I will do my best as it was difficult to cook two meals for me and my husband and kids. They were incredibly supportive which I think made it that much easier and because it wasn’t my first time and no one gave me a hard time for making the choice to eliminate certain items from my diet. I did not do a weigh in or measurements as that was not a goal of mine but I have noticed it is a result that my bloated stomach is gone and that I have more definition. I also have incredible energy so I have been taking advantage of it working outside in my yard and it gives me immense happiness that I can keep up with my busy 2-year old and 5-year old!’

This year’s 30 Day Whole Body Detox  has had the most impact for me personally, and I’m the program founder! And the first year is when I found out I have a gluten intolerance, so I am very pleased to have had some serious life changing moments this time around.

Did I reach my goals this month? Not all of them. Due to my toe injury, I wasn’t able to exercise much at all. That will change in May. My sugar and chocolate addiction is gone. And my bedtime and evening routine has changed for the better.

Results from my 2014 Whole Body Detox:

  • After a massive sugar detox, feel amazing and back to my energetic and passionate self.
  • No caffeine (not even REV3) for 30 days. I function well without it, so I won’t be adding it back into my lifestyle.
  • No alcohol for 30 days, no cheating this year (I had 1 glass in years prior). My choices for alcohol will be different; I will stick to wine (organic varieties are of interest) and stay away from coolers. My hubby has decided to change his beer to a local micro-brewery, Nickel Brook, to avoid all of the additives found in the major label beers.
  • First time making a green juice (using a Vitamix). I loved it! I will continue to make these regularly.
  • Tried many new foods this month including collard greens, fennel, black kale and gluten-free oats. Found several new recipes from the 30 Day Whole Body Detox Recipe & Guidebook that will be staying in our weekly rotation. À
  • A total of 8 lbs gone. An unexpected side effect. I had gained about 5 lbs over the winter (ugh!) and easily lost it and more in 30 days.

30 Day Whole Body Detox 2014 – Day 15

Officially completed half of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox this morning!! What a surprise when I stepped on the scale and I have now released a total of 7 lb. I’m excited for sure, but this was never a goal of mine. I made a short video to share with you some of my exciting results so far and also some of the motivation for WHY I’m doing the program.

I had a great time today connecting with the staff and patrons from One Health Clubs in Mississauga about the program.  I’m looking forward to working with a group from the club starting on April 22nd. You’re welcome to join us!

The biggest gift of the program so far is that we all have so much more energy and everyone is sleeping better. Taking caffeine out of our diets, removing alcohol and sugar too, really makes a huge difference! No more afternoons naps (except for my 3 year old)! I get so much more done in a day now as well and I am no longer feeling exhausted.

And by the way, yes this post is a day late, unfortunately the servers for my hosting company, Host Gator, were down for over 12 hours yesterday! I’m searching for a new provider in May, I’m open to suggestions please.
