Today is the first official day of autumn (also known as fall) here in the northern hemisphere. For many of us, this is our favourite time of the year. It’s a time of transition, not only in our wardrobes but in our behaviours, attitudes and lifestyle.
Gratitude Tip: Embrace the changing of the seasons, as there are many places in the world that do not experience the fall. Breathe a bit more deeply when you’re outside. Take an extra moment in the morning to give thanks for the colours of the leaves, the crispness in the air and warmth of the mid-day sun that comes after the coolness of the morning.
This year is the first time we’ve ever had a fall edition of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox. I was hesitant to promote this program in the fall but the demand has increased of over the years and when I looked at the Chinese Medicine theory of the 5 elements, I noticed that autumn is the season for the lungs/large intestine (spring is for liver, hence the launch of the program in the spring). As we move into the winter season, and into ‘hibernation’ and a state of contraction (not a good time for a detox), a gentle fall detox program can make the transition easier and also keep us from gaining extra pounds during the holiday season. I started 10 days ago with a small group, and we have groups starting weekly from now until Oct 13th (immediately following Canadian Thanksgiving). Would you like to join us?
